Physical Education
Children are offered a range of sporting activities both during and beyond the school day. In addition to the statutory PE curriculum, (striking and fielding, gymnastics, dance, athletics, net and ball games and swimming) pupils are offered additional opportunities through clubs and after school activities. Physical activity is important for wellbeing, and we aim to encourage all learners to enjoy their PE sessions.
Older children also have Bikeability sessions, swimming lessons at the Flamingo Pool in Axminster, and can also participate in the half-termly inter-school Stockland cross country Races, a range of Intra MAT sporting competitions alongside our link schools and compete regularly against other local primary schools.
In addition to PE lessons that develop teamwork, children experience activities such as orienteering and problem solving in an outdoor setting. We work with our older children to train them as play leaders, which develops leadership skills for these children and helps engage our younger children in active playtimes.
In addition to PE lessons that develop teamwork, children experience activities such as orienteering and problem solving in an outdoor setting, including through our Forest School programme.
Children in Key Stage 2 have further opportunities during residential programmes.
