A HUGE well done to all of our children who took part in the First Federation Trust @timestablesrockstars_official 'Top of the Rocks' Battle. They competed against all 29 schools in the First Federation Trust and finished as the highest scoring school! Year 4 also were recognised for their hard work finishing as the 2nd highest scoring band of any school! It was fantastic to see the children so excited and enthusiastic during this competition, completing times table challenges on this great online platform! Well done Marshwood!

Marshwood Church are holding a plant/seed swap cafe on Sunday 18th May, 3 - 4:30pm Do you have any plants that are tucked in the corner of your garden as you've run out of space? Or plants that need to be split down as too big? Or maybe packets of seeds you have left over or are never going to grow? We'd love these as donations at our plant cafe please! If you're not green fingered and more comfortable working with self raising flour 😉, we would really appreciate donations of cake or other sweet treats. If you are unable to make the cafe but have some items you'd like to donate, please bring to school on Friday afternoon. Please pass food donations to Marie or Paul Winnett and leave any plants in the churchyard, behind the wall, below the noticeboard. Thank you! We look forward to seeing you on Sunday! On Thursday we had a wonderful day celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We enjoyed playing games from the past during breaktime and learning about VE Day during our history lessons. We were then joined by the PFA and friends and family for a picnic on our playground, sharing yummy treats with our friends and playing outside. #veday80thanniversary

We welcomed pupils from The Woodroffe School into Pilsdon class who came and spent an afternoon running a design and technology lesson. The Woodroffe students have prepared their own easter theme arts and crafts that were enjoyed by all of the students here in Marshwood. Thank you to @woodroffeschooldorset for coming to our school.

Lamberts were learning about pavilions and what they are. We designed our own and then had a go at making our own using 3D structures and decorating with cladding. Great fun was had by all and Mrs Morgan spent hours removing glue gun glue from the tables afterwards! A fantastic creative lesson.

In Coneys Class we really enjoyed our first summer forest school session. We were observing and identifying wild flowers in our local area. We also asked the question what makes a wild flower wild, and how do they grow? We discussed pollination and natural seed dispersal. We managed to spot a fantastic variety of flowers. They were Herb Robert, Red Campion, Buttercup, Celendine, Cuckoo Flower, Cow Parsley, Viola, Bluebell, Whitebell, Wood Anemone, Stitchwort, Dandelion, Clover, Yellow Archangel, Early Purple Orchid, Wild Garlic, Primrose, Daffodil, Vetch, Gorse Flower and Bugle.

Please come and join us on Thursday 8th May at 2:45pm for a picnic to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We welcome contributions of small treats and snacks which we will share and enjoy together. The PFA will kindly be offering teas and coffees too.

Pilsdon class have really enjoyed the forest school sessions this school year, especially the year 6's who have had their final session down at our wonderful bespoke forest school site. The children have enjoyed cooking popcorn, s'mores and pizzas on the open fire, crafting using tools and items from nature such as willow and playing in the outdoors making rope swings and hammocks. Thank you to Mrs Strawbridge and our volunteer supporters making this such a great part of being at Marshwood School.

The PFA team have organised another fantastic event for all to enjoy, a summer school disco! A letter has come home with your child, and is also available in the school office. Please do come along and join us for a dance and a BBQ. Additional burgers and hot dogs are available for adults at £3.

Coneys class had the most wonderful visit to @foxdownchildrensfarm looking at signs of Spring and meeting the animals on the farm. The children explored the farm identifying signs of spring there, as well as on their walk down. Their highlight was meeting all of the animals and the really enjoyed feeding the pigs! Thank you to @foxdownchildrensfarm for having us!

Lamberts had a brilliant time in Exeter for their Roman themed trip. They explored the old Roman city walls, visited the museum and learnt more about how the Roman’s lived and found out about the old Roman baths that are buried under the Cathedral Green. But, despite all of that, their highlight was the train journeys in and out! Thank you to @rammuseum for our wonderful visit.
