Thank you to @dwfirerescue who came to visit us to teach us about fire safety. All classes enjoyed a fun, informative and interactive session learning about what to do in an emergency and how to stay safe. Pilsdon Class took on the challenge of being 'Fire Investigation Officers' and in groups they worked together to look at evidence to piece together how a fire started and what needed to be done to prevent it happening again.

Whilst they can be a great way for friends to socialise, online games like Roblox that allow multiplayer gameplay with strangers are always fraught with a variety of dangers that can expose children to inappropriate or harmful content. Roblox enables people to play anonymously, which can often be something that attracts people to misuse the game and potentially put young people at risk of harm.
In addition to interacting with random strangers across the world, other factors such as in-game purchases and potential scams can also pose a financial risk. It’s important that parents and educators remain aware of the risks associated with this popular title and how it can be used safely. This free guide – also available in podcast format – offers parents and educators expert advice on what can be done to ensure that young people have a safe and enjoyable experience with Roblox.
WakeUpWednesdays are also now available as a podcast. Please do visit thenationalcollege.com for some great guidance and helpful tips.

We all enjoyed @worldbookdaysocial this year in school and were so impressed with the wonderful characters that the children chose to dress as.
We worked within our house teams and enjoyed creating our own book marks, designing our own book token, reading together and reading whenever the bell rang, as well as making our very own story rap! Thank you to Miss Thompson who sourced World Book Day books for all of the children to take home with them at the end of the day. Thanks to @lyme_bookshop @thebookshopbridport for providing these books for the children.

KS2 are currently enjoying a 6 week block of swimming lessons @flamingopoolaxminster The children really enjoy these sessions each week as they progress and develop their swimming abilities. The children work in groups suited to their ability with swimming instructors from the pool and make great progress. All children should be able to swim 25m when they finish primary school and we pride ourselves in working alongside the local pool to help our children achieve this life skill. Thank you to @flamingopoolaxminster for having us again this year and to Sewards coaches for transporting the children to and from the pool.

Lamberts Class are learning about the Romans. We were visited by Ross who has a collection of roman coins and artefacts. He talked to us about how archaeology helps us understand history and showed us where different parts of history will be layered in the land.

Last week, year 5 enjoyed celebrating Shrove Tuesday during their forest school session. The children made the camp fire and pancake mix, and then each cooked their own pancake on the camp fire. We were very impressed with the flipping that they could perform and they most certainly enjoyed themselves!

Reception have been exploring numbers 1 - 8, counting with both hands, for example looking at how 8 is made with 5 and 3. We then had some help from our puppet who said he was very good at organising numbers, but we had to teach him how to do it correctly! We explored the staircase pattern using our Numberblocks numbers, focusing on how each one should be one more.

Inspired by abstract sculpture from artists such as Anthony Caro, Lamberts drew sketches of playground equipment looking carefully at both negative and positive space. These were used to develop plans for abstract sculptures then we used the church to spread out and move our sculptures from plan to reality. Thank you to everyone who donated cardboard for Lamberts Class to use in their artwork - we had an amazing time creating these! We are so fortunate to have the church to use as an additional space for our learning.
