Welcome! At Marshwood Primary Academy we are committed to helping our children be happy, successful and supportive of one another. We have a fantastic staff, small class sizes and have been described as 'one big happy family'.
Founded in 1842 Marshwood Primary is one of Dorset's longest established Primary schools. Around sixty children attend the school and there are three classes. The head of school, teachers and teaching assistants work together as a strong team to provide the children with an excellent education. Standards at the school are high and the latest Ofsted (April 2017) described the Head of School and staff as 'Working tirelessly to ensure that pupils receive a good level of education,' having 'esnured that children have experienced a rich curriculum.'
Children at Marshwood love learning outside. Many of the lessons take place within our fabulous grounds, with the stunning backdrop of the Marshwood Vale. We can even see the sea from our playground and enjoy weekly Forest School sessions in our nearby woodland classroom!
Our Marshwood M’s: ‘Motivate, Mentor, Master’ sit at the heart of our decision-making and shape our curriculum intent, implementation and impact.
We MOTIVATE our pupils in the joy of learning through a broad, balanced and inspiring curriculum that is driven by pupils’ needs and interests.
We MENTOR our pupils’ and enrich their learning by connecting them to their local, national and global world and by opening doors to new experiences and opportunities.
We support every pupil to MASTER and excel, regardless of the challenges they may face and are committed to building an inclusive school that raises aspirations for all.
As a Church Aided School we have taken Mark 12 v 30-31 as our mission statement:
"Jesus said
Love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind and with all your strength.
Love your neighbour as yourself."
At Marshwood pupils are helped to display these values through:
Visitors to the school often describe the calm, friendly atmosphere and observe children working hard and enjoying their learning. If you would like to visit our school and see this for yourself, please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
